Associate
Dustin Woodward has served as a Research Associate for McClure Consulting, LLC since 2007. During this period, Woodward has conducted market research, economic base analysis and demographic analysis studies at local and regional levels throughout the western US for real estate development, economic development, economic impact, and redevelopment projects. Mr. Woodward’s involvement in these projects includes, but is not limited to:
- Assessing market feasibility, forecasting, and estimating economic and fiscal impacts.
- Utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to enrich analytical capabilities and provide enhanced geospatial analysis.
- Coalescing primary and secondary data
sources (i.e. Census, NAICS, surveys, etc) for
local/regional economic analysis.
- Preparing local/regional economic research reports, strategic plans, and other data and findings for inclusion into professional reports for public and private clients.
- Mr. Woodward brings an academic background in urban
planning and design, sustainability research and
environmental policy to his consulting work. Mr.
Woodward’s ability to understand the physical,
economic, environmental and cultural/social contexts,
explore and identify potential alternatives, integrate
community input and develop design solutions has
contributed to the development of urban revitalization
strategies for the Phoenix, AZ Capitol Mall and
Pittsburgh, PA downtown. Woodward’s role in these
revitalization projects focused on the implementation
of effective planning and development tools, and using
economic analysis and forecasting in order to develop
economically viable and cohesive strategies to
reinvigorate these declining areas.
Mr. Woodward was involved in sustainability-based initiatives during his tenure at Arizona State University, acting as a Researcher for the Office of the President and the Office of Sustainability Initiatives. In this capacity, he performed sustainability-based research that led to the development of Sustainability Reader, co-authored by Woodward, which was prepared for ASU President Michael Crow for the International Summit on Sustainability in Temezon, Mexico held in 2005.
Mr. Woodward co-authored a report entitled Visioning 21st Century Tribal Community Planning for the College of Design at Arizona State University. The report focused on identifying the needs of American Indian community planning and developing effective and culturally sensitive measures to increase planning capacity within tribal lands in both Arizona and New Mexico.
Other publications include: ”Delivering Community Embeddedness: Arizona Capital Mall District Revitalization Plan” published in 2005 by the School of Planning, Arizona State University; “Revitalization Strategies for Downtown Pittsburgh” published in 2006 by the School of Architecture, Carnegie Mellon University; and “An Analysis of the Impacts of Social Flows and Migration on Sense of Place: A Quantitative Approach for Metropolitan Phoenix” published in 2007 by the Oxford University Centre for the Environment, Oxford University Press.
Mr. Woodward obtained a M.S. in Nature, Society and Environmental Policy from the University of Oxford in Oxford, England, a M.S. in Urban Design from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a B.S. in Urban Planning from Arizona State University.
